I would love to attend Javascript conferences and conventions like jsconf and jqcon, but they are always across the country (and expensive). I work a fulltime job in addition to being a fulltime college student, there is not really an abundance of opportunities to travel to Texas, Boston, or California to attend a conference for the best language ever.
Let's face it... Ohio sucks for this sort of thing. Mountain View, CA is where it's all at. Is anyone else interested in this too and coming to a similar conclusion? I don't really have a solution, as it is not completely probable to suggest arranging our own "cinference" (that was a typo, but an interesting one)... but I would at least be happy with some occasional meetups with you all where we could show off our sexy Javascript skills, and receive/give aid. I like to learn, and I like to teach, and I would be extremely interested in having high-level conversations with fellow Javascript enthusiasts. I have very few friends (one) with interests in Front-end development, let alone a career path, and my girlfriend/fiancé/wife thing can smile and nod to my rants all she wants but it doesn't quite fulfill that void. So I rarely get to talk about roadblocks or breakthroughs that I come across in my daily Javascript life, and it kind of wells up inside you after a while, which can't be healthy.
Thoughts? Criticisms?

I hear you man. Monthly or quarterly meetup sounds great to me!
Ross,
Just seeing this. Haven't been back here b/c I didn't think anyone had posted anything. as for local meetups, I'm down. Justin and I have talked about this several times before.
I realize several months have past, but if interested still, post back here.

I'm still game. Schedule is about 100x more tightly packed than it was a few months ago, but I would still enjoy a meetup.
